ST Mayer

Chief Operating Officer

SaraT L. Mayer (ST) is the Chief Operating Officer at The Clean Slate Initiative. In this role she leads the organization’s financial and people practices as well as its planning, growth and data work. ST brings years of experience as a policy generalist working in government and the nonprofit sector. 

Most recently, she ran her consulting practice, working with early-stage-profit organizations and philanthropic institutions to develop integrated strategies and operations.  Previously, she served as the Chief Program Officer at Code for America, where she led the organization’s workforce, criminal justice, and safety-net portfolios at the intersection of policy and technology. Before that, she dedicated a decade of work to the San Mateo County Health System as the Director of Public Health, Policy, and Planning. She focused on the service delivery of public clinics,  social and land use policy, and addressing health inequities.  

ST is a current Board Member for Friends of the Urban Forest and a past Board Member for the Housing Leadership Council and Human Impact Partners. She has also served as an Advisory Board Member for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), The Bay Area Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII), and various other civic roles.  

ST earned her bachelor’s degree at Wesleyan University and her Master’s in Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley.   

She currently lives in San Francisco, CA, with her wife and two children and enjoys spending summers in Portland, ME. ST can be found on her electric cargo bike when not working towards legal system reform.
