On June 1, 2022, the New York State Senate passed Clean Slate legislation that will automate the record sealing process for certain offenses, allowing more New Yorkers to earn a living, support themselves and their families, and positively contribute to their communities. The NY Assembly must also pass the legislation before it can be sent to Gov. Hochul to be signed into law. With little time left in this year's legislative session, Clean Slate New York is urging New Yorkers to contact Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie to bring the measure to the Assembly floor.
