Sharlene brings over 14 years of progressive, multidisciplinary HR experience, including dedicated experience as an HR Business Partner to executives and senior leaders. She’s a tenacious, hands-on, people-centric Human Resources Leader-Practitioner and a transformational and strategic leader who inspires change with carefully crafted business-aligned people solutions that enhance the candidate and employee experience.
Her leadership journey is marked by the creation of bespoke HR programs and policies, that seamlessly integrate diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, inclusive design, and social justice. These pioneering efforts go beyond compliance, bringing about genuine organizational change. With a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, Sharlene has adeptly managed a vast spectrum of professionals, effectively catering to the unique demands of geographically dispersed employees.
Some of her career accomplishments include optimizing HR operations, a feat achieved through the integration of advanced HR tech solutions and data driven strategies. Her collaborative approach in co-leading multi million dollar projects is best illustrated by her role in launching the Alameda County Pretrial pilot program in collaboration with the California Judicial Courts. Furthermore, Sharlene's innovative recruitment strategies have dramatically reduced vacancy rates while boosting employee retention. Her role as an Advisory Board member helped various organizations with personnel issues, compliance and human capital strategy. She also continues to serve as a coach and mentor to emerging professionals.
Sharlene holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Psychology, specializing in Industrial Organizational Psychology. She also holds various HR professional certifications, a master certificate in labor relations, and is a current and upstanding member of various professional organizations such as: The Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology, Society for Human Resources Management, Public Sector HR Association, to name a few.
Beyond work, Sharlene is a techie, proud mom, spouse, and cat mom. She lives near Silicon Valley and volunteers for local civic organizations and causes. Sharlene believes in the power and positive impact of giving back to the community. She believes that movement is medicine, she enjoys music, dancing, hydroponic gardening, and spending time outside in nature with her family.
In her role as CSI’s Director of Talent and Culture, Sharlene is committed to supporting the organization, most importantly, its people, in fulfilling CSI’s vision of offering second chances as a societal imperative - recognizing that everyone should have a fair opportunity to work, have a safe home, take care of their families and contribute to the community.
